About CODE

The Center for the study of the Organizations and Decisions in Economics (CODE), was created in February 1995 to promote high quality research in decision theory and in the theory of organizations.

CODE’s main research areas are: social choice theory and game theory, industrial organization, financial economics and macroeconomics. Presently, CODE has eleven permanent members and has been selected by the Generalitat de Catalunya as a high quality research center.

Since its creation, CODE’s fundamental objective has been to provide an environment allowing for the development of excellence in research according to the international standards of scientific quality.

To this aim, CODE carries out several activities. It hosts a regular flow of visitors, organizes workshops and conferences, trains doctoral students, and stimulates the diffusion of the outcome of the research of its members in the main international journals as well as their participation in the most important national and international conferences.

Visitors, according to the length of their stay, actively participate in CODE’s research projects, publish working papers, participate in the regular program of seminars and workshops of the Department of Economics, collaborate in supervising advanced graduate students, and also teach graduate courses in the International Doctorate in Economic Analysis (IDEA) organized by the Department of Economics (UAB).

CODE members cooperate with the Institut d’Anàlisi Econòmica (IAE), the Departament d’Economia of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics (BGSE). CODE also is member of the Centre de Referència d'Economia Analítica (CREA), a component of a network of 'Reference Centers' sponsored by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
